These cute little critters occasionally like to take up home in your dwelling. They can bring their family together invading your loft like an unwanted visitor and lead to structural damage of your attic.
Some of these Pest Control Tips may be helpful.
Try putting a “Havaheart” trap in your loft where the squirrels appear to be living. This may trap the creature and also keep it alive. Most neighborhood hardware stores carry these and they have the best design. Bait the trap preferably with peanut butter -irresistible to squirrels. Also, you can add sunflower seeds and seeds to the mixture. Place trap in attic and check regular. After an animal has been trapped crate and all on your car, drive to some other environment and discharge the squirrel. Repeat this process for a couple weeks. Usually there’s more than one.
Call the Humane Society:
Towns with animal control officers will be glad to send someone outside to catch the squirrel. It’s free, but you might want to make a little donation. Animal traps can be leased from several humanist societies. Put this trap near where the animal lives. Again, bait with peanut butter put on a apple slice.
Consider spraying fox urine in the hole. This may be bought from hunting supply shops. Smaller animals like the squirrels are frightened of the creatures higher up on the food chain. This will probably help them to depart instantly.
Try wetting cloth with ammonia and dispersing these around the general area that the animal is living in. Animals sense of smell is much more highly developed than ours and also the smell of ammonia drives them mad.
Use moth balls are made of naphthalene flakes. Squirrel repellant is created of exactly the identical naphthalene flakes but the cost is significantly higher.
Close Attic Entries
Squirrels are out through the night, but return at night. Throughout the day look around your house for any loose planks or gaps and hammer down them as squirrels can get into very tiny spaces. Buy any mesh and seal off the opening into your attic, such as valves, toaster or some other kind. This is usually easier if done from the inside ensuring there aren’t any gaps. After this is done they can’t get back in.
Having squirrels in your attic could be very pricey. Don’t wait if all above approaches do not work.
